Gun Services
Run by Ed Hawkes, EH Gunsmiths provide a range of specialist services to our community of shooters, from the repair and renovation of shotguns, to stockwork including fine oil refinishing and re-chequering, and blacking and browning of metalwork.
Ed also provides gunfit, the art and craft of tailoring your shotgun to fit you like a glove, for more accurate and comfortable shooting.
A familiar face at Deal & Sandwich Shooting School regulars, Ed Hawkes (above) is the resident gunsmith (and ace shot) and the owner of EH Gunsmiths.

About Ed Hawkes
Ed is the resident gunsmith at the well-established Deal & Sandwich Shooting School, and operates out of a fully-equipped, on-site workshop.
Ed has been shooting since the age of 11. The son of a gamekeeper, he has grown up in the Kent shooting community and is an experienced gun owner and keen shot.
Before becoming a full-time gunsmith, Ed worked as a joiner, specializing in custom windows for period properties (and still takes on the occasional project when it takes his fancy! He is also a trustee of the Kent Battle of Britain Museum, Hawkinge, where he takes a special interest in maintaining the Museum’s extensive collection of World War I and II weapons.
How can we help?
Your gunsmith is the person to talk to when your shotgun is feeling a bit loose or looking rather tired.
Remember, a shotgun will typically last a lifetime (if not several!) when well-cared for and maintained - one of Ed’s own guns was made in 1876 and is still going strong.
